The cost of a market stall pitch in the UK can fetch between £10 and £100, averaging around £25-£30 for most regional events. The price of the market shows what stallholders are willing to pay. Where there is great footfall and great spending power, the more you will have to pay for your pitch. So if you are paying a lot, make sure you have enough stock to profit from the potential increased takings.
When I started compiling this list, I thought it would be easy to get market stall price information. Actually, it wasn’t. I don’t know why this information is not more readily in the public domain, but for so many of them, we had to contact the market organisers and councils directly – which took bloomin’ ages! That is why this list is not exhaustive. If you attend a good market and we do not have it listed, or your county is not represented, please let us know the information and we will happily include it.
To attend any market you will be asked for a certain amount of paperwork, including evidence of insurance. You can see further details of the documentation that may be required here.
