Chepstow Sunday Market – Review

Chepstow High Street
Overview of Chepstow’s lovely stallholders.

A market organised by Green Top Events and it is another good one! The good folk of Chepstow come out and support their market, no matter the weather. There is always a good buzz about the town on a Sunday, particularly as this market now runs every Sunday from the original timings of twice a month. It could be argued that running a market too often is a bad thing because it dilutes the offering but only time will tell.

The Chepstow High Street is a lovely venue for a market, on a slight hill too, which means that stallholders need to bring a plank of wood to sure up their stalls, but the views are very pretty.

Chepstow, in Wales, is full of history and a lot of customers are tourists who come to walk the Wye Valley and Offa’s Dyke or come for the history of Chepstow Castle, the Chepstow Museum or to walk the extensive remains of medieval town walls – the Chepstow Port Walls.

There were so many interesting stalls here, including the lovely Megan of Driftio which is a business selling innovative gifts from reclaimed and repurposed artefacts. At this point, she is new to markets but it looks like her novel ideas and artwork will be successful and popular.

Added BenefitsChepstow attracts tourists and walkers all year round.

Chepstow market really is a well run affair, with interesting stalls, good marketing and a well laid out market. Marketing and signs for the event were clearly displayed at the entrance to the town. It is well supported and customers seem to enjoy the atmosphere and use it as a meeting point. Having a coffee stall on the market is always a good bonus, for stallholders too!

Happy Trading!
